Amy Hill of Koru Films Takes on 56-Mile Bike Challenge to Support Mental Health Charity, Mind

Amy Hill, the founder of Shropshire-based video production company Koru Films, has embarked on an inspiring challenge this February to raise funds for the mental health charity, Mind. Over the course of the month, Amy will cycle 56 miles as part of Mind's annual "56 Miles in February" campaign, aiming to generate vital donations to support mental health services.

With a fundraising goal of at least £200, Amy hopes to raise awareness about the importance of mental health and the crucial role that organisations like Mind play in offering support to those in need. The challenge involves participants nationwide walking, running, or cycling 56 miles over 28 days—a symbolic distance that represents the 5.6 million people in the UK who struggle with their mental health each year.

Sharing her motivation for the challenge, Amy explained:
"I’m taking on the 56-mile February challenge for Mind and hoping to raise £200 for this amazing charity! I first turned to Mind when I was 25, feeling pretty rough mentally and not in a great place. Telford Mind offered me six weeks of free counselling, and part of me felt like a bit of a fraud, like I wasn’t struggling enough to deserve that kind of help. But after a few weeks of digging through my brain, it became clear there was a lot to unpick. Without Mind’s kindness and support, I’d probably still be stuck in that 25-year-old mental silo. I’m 36ish now, I have meds to help me with anxiety attacks and still need the occasional CBT top up but I’m cool to address that because Mind taught me it’s ok to talk!"

She added, "So, on that note, please help me support this ass-kicking charity and wish me luck as I try to squeeze in some miles between shoots and edits!"

Amy has already begun clocking up her miles on her bike, with the scenic Shropshire countryside providing a beautiful but often challenging backdrop. Supporters can track her progress and contribute to her fundraiser via her JustGiving page. Every donation helps Mind continue their vital work, offering helplines, counselling, and community programmes to those in need.

As the owner of Koru Films, a company known for crafting compelling films for charities, non-profits, and purpose-led organisations, Amy’s participation in this challenge is a natural extension of her commitment to making a positive social impact. Koru Films has previously collaborated with numerous third-sector organisations to create emotive storytelling campaigns aimed at raising awareness and driving change.

For those looking to support Amy in her journey, there are plenty of ways to get involved. You can donate directly to her campaign or take on the 56-mile challenge yourself. Whether it’s cycling, running, or walking, every effort counts in the fight for better mental health support.

Amy’s fundraising efforts highlight the growing movement towards greater mental health awareness and the importance of collective action. With the rising demand for mental health services across the UK, initiatives like Mind’s active challenges provide both financial resources and a platform for important conversations.
